Shapeless eBook Glenn Bullion

Boy meets girl. Boy must put his best face forward.
Brady Jones doesn’t know where he came from. He knows nothing about his family. He doesn’t know what he is, or how it’s possible to do the amazing things he can do.
He does know loneliness and survival, both from a life in the foster care system. He knows that he’s comfortable being alone on a Friday night. Despite the fact they’re so very different, he’d like to get to know Lily Ferguson better. Maybe even call her a friend.
Brady knows he’s a shapeshifter. He can change his body to look like nearly anything he can imagine. An object, an animal, even other people.
What he doesn’t know is how far the powers-that-be in the world will go to meet him, control him.
He’s about to find out.
Shapeless eBook Glenn Bullion
I thought this was an amazing stand alone by the great Glen Bullion!Pros:
Interesting characters with real, believable interactions. I was greatly impressed (like always) with how Mr.Bullion makes casual conversation seem so truly casual. It brings the people to life, and really pulls me into the moment with them. Also the way Brady & Lily's relationship is built up feels genuine in the best way, not overtly forced but organic. I loved seeing how things would progress and it kept me interested throughout.
Cons:
I walked away feeling a little wanting. There is some deep dark history here for these developed characters, but it feels like we only saw the surface of that. This could have been fleshed out way more, and I felt that there could have been a darker direction to the story and it wouldn't have felt forced at all. These were people with truly messed up life experiences, and it should have reflected a little more. Everyone just rolls with the punches, but I don't really know many real life people that can just brush off a lifetime of misery quite like Lily & Brady did in this story.
Overall:
An excellent read I would recommend to anyone

Shapeless eBook Glenn Bullion Reviews
I am a huge fan of almost anything Glenn Bullion writes; anything with Jack Kursed is a must read for me.
Shapeless was a new storyline and characters, which I liked, the descriptions of the action and conversations were masterful. I loved Brady and Lily, what a great couple. I can see many more adventures in the future.
I thought the story was a little too short and, for me, I didn't like the ending, I'm still confused.
Shapeshifting was interesting, but adding and subtracting mass was a little over the line, even for fantasy, si-fi.
A good quick read, a little too quick but it did grip me until the end.
If you are a fan of Glenn Bullions past work this will not disappoint.
Glenn Bullion's storytelling hasn't disappointed yet, and that streak keeps on with his latest read. Mostly. It'd be amazing if Shapeless falls into the shared universe that Bullion has peopled with Alex (a demonspawn), Kevin (a nerd witch), Victoria (a daywalking vampire), and my favorite dude, the unkillable Jack Kursed. But I doubt it.
I felt bad for Brady Jones. His strange situation affords him no friends, no confidants. Brady is a shapeshifter of astounding breadth and versatility. Heck, he can change into goop if he so wants. All his life, he's tried to not draw attention to himself. Today, a 24-year-old Brady works as a security guard at the mall in Everton Fields, New York. Other than his job, he lives a hermit's life. The one indulgence he's allowed himself is his habitual visit to the local porn shop wherein he purchases a DVD of salacious nature from the clerk at the register. It speaks to how awkward Brady is in social interaction. Truth is, he harbors a mad crush on that clerk, a gothie named Lily who we come to find nurses her own dark secrets.
It's an odd friendship that plucks Brady out of his shell, and one that provides a diverse assortment of shadowy agencies multiple opportunities to track him down and capture him. So, I guess, Brady should've really kept to himself.
Every Bullion book I've cracked open, I've found it impossible to not grow invested in the characters. Guy can make even a strange, secretive, sorta creepy cat like Brady likable. The prologue goes some ways into detailing just how very different Brady is from everyone else.
I've got only two nags, and it's to do with Brady's bonehead move in that alley. You'll know the scene when you get to it. I kept thinking Bullion surely could've found a more organic way, a less contrived way, to get the narrative conflict going. Also, the story here and there does feel rushed and slapped on together.
Is Shapeless as good as Dead Living or the stories in the Damned & Cursed series? No. But I still had a great time reading Shapeless. Couldn't put it down. There's a wealth of boss action sequences. I enjoyed Brady and Lily's weird budding relationship. And then there's that unexpected ending. Do I want a sequel. Yes, please. But I can also see where it's perfectly okay to leave this as a standalone effort.
I've read every book but one by Mr. Bullion and am a true fan. I love his writing but was a little wary buying this one based on some of the reviews. The concern about the ending and apparent shallow protagonist. I guess I missed all that. I admit the protagonist could have been a bit deeper, but I did like him, did understand him and really liked the love interest Lily.
The shapeshifting was different in this book and I enjoyed the way Mr. Bullion played with it. Why not 5 stars? I don't really give those much but in this case I think we got a bit cheated. This book absolutely should have been roughly 40% longer. It felt a bit rushed and the storyline not as robust as usual. I'm truly hoping that in the future Mr. Bullion does a re-write of this adding the rich environment and story we are used to.
Given all that, it's a good story with good characters. The ending seems a touch abrupt and I think maybe a few more sentences or a page more would have put a better end to it, but it is by no means a BAD ending.
I thought this was an amazing stand alone by the great Glen Bullion!
